At Wavehunters we understand that the children are the surfers and lifeguards of the future. We value this and therefore invest a lot of time into teaching them, not only how to surf, but also about beach safety and respect for the water. By understanding their environment and appreciating the movement of the ocean our kids will learn how to put theory into practice every time they enter the water.
The Wavehunters Kids Club runs every morning in the school holidays at 10am and is specially designed for getting kids into the water, with other children, in a friendly, safe, and relaxed atmosphere. Underneath the core principle of learning to surf we integrate surf lifesaving and team games. Children need to be 6 years or older to surf without an adult accompanying them in the water. It is advisable that someone is on the beach or close by just in case it gets a bit too chilly. The lessons are £28 a session and block booking discounts are available.
The ‘Grom’ Club runs every week on Tuesdays at 4.30pm and Sundays at 4pm. This club is designed to help improve surfing skills in a safe environment whilst also creating surfing groups amongst the ‘Groms’ who look out for each other whenever they are in the sea. Lots of these kids come to us with their different schools and it is great for them to meet new, like-minded, friends before they move on to secondary school. Grom Club membership is £30, including a Wavehunters Hoody and Wavehunters discount card, and sessions are £5 thereafter otherwise one-off sessions are £20.
